CHILD RIGHTS ADVOCATES CLAMOR FOR ACCOUNTABILITY FROM DEP-ED OFFICIALS FOR BAD NOODLES IN SCHOOL FEEDING PROGRAM

The recent graft charges involving the P427 million school feeding program of the Department of Education (DEP-ED) caught the ire of child rights advocates, who warned that this issue is beyond  “forum shopping and business rivalry” as what Secretary Jesli Lapuz  wants to insinuate.

 

BEST INTEREST OF THE CHILD PRINCIPLE WAS VIOLATED IN DENYING THE BARRAMEDA FAMILY MOTION

Quezon City, Philippines, 17 June 2009 - SALINLAHI and other child rights advocates joined the Barrameda Family today in laying to rest the remains of murdered mom Ruby Rose as it chided the Las Pinas RTC 254 Judge Aglugob for violating the BEST INTEREST OF THE CHILD principle in relation to the decision to deny the Barrameda petition to compel Ruby Rose's daughters to attend their mother's burial.

DSWD INUTILE IN SERVING CHILD LABOR ABUSE CASES, CHILD RIGHTS ADVOCATES LAMENT

Philippines, 12 June 2009 - As the World Day Against Child Labor was celebrated in various parts of the globe on June 12, child rights advocates belonging to the SALINLAHI Alliance for Children’s Concerns called on Gloria Arroyo to stop her self-serving politicking and attend to the serious business of the rights and welfare of Filipino children who are forced to work and help their unemployed parents put food on the table.

 

CHILDREN AND CHILD RIGHTS ADVOCATES SAY NO TO CON-ASS!

Quezon City, Philippines, 10 June 2009 - Children and child rights advocates led by the SALINLAHI Alliance for Children’s Concerns joined the throng of protesters in Makati today denouncing the attempt of the Arroyo administration to change the constitution through the CON-ASS. The group believes that this move is intended to perpetuate Arroyo’s power beyond 2010.
